Laura Hollister is a Virginia native who came to us from the Alamance-Burlington system where she taught math to 5th graders for several years. She also brings a passion for experiential learning from her time attending and then working alongside the directors of Camp Twin Creeks for the past five years. Laura believes that the summer camp experience can be a transformative for children, teaching them the confidence and independence they will need in the future. Laura received her educational training from Elon University where she studied Elementary Education, and was a violinist in Elon’s Orchestra.



Ashley Champion is a Hillsborough, NC native who uses her years of experience in early childhood education in her work with our Lower Elementary learners. She received her formal educational training at Eastern Carolina University where she studied Elementary Education and received a concentration in Child Studies. Ashley is a firm believer in an integrated approach to learning, and applies this to her work with The Studio School. In addition to working in education, she is a wife, step-mother, learner, explorer and adventure seeker.

We are seeking a dynamic educator with a dream of empowering young learners, sparking and fueling their curiosity, and preparing them for the future. Must be an innovative thinker with a talent for modeling and teaching 21st skills and bringing real world experiences into the classroom. 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Follow a curriculum based on the children's own interests, as well as develop and implement deep and well-rounded project work

  • Engage children in art, music, reading, writing, and experimentation using a variety of materials and approaches

  • Support children in building a strong foundation of literacy and mathematics

  • Individualize pace and methods for supporting mastery of core skills of reading, writing, and mathematics

In addition, the teacher should have or exhibit:

  • A love of working with children and families

  • A willingness to learn about and implement child-focused, and individualized approach to a child’s learning

  • View learning as a collaborative process

  • A belief that all children are unique and learn in different ways

Preferred, but not required:

  • Candidates should have a bachelor's degree and two years of teaching experience.

  • Experience in Montessori or Reggio-Inspired environments are ideal.

  • Compelling candidates lacking the above requirements but possessing unique experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.
