Children’s Pop-Up Market

Thank you to all of our sponsors, volunteers, families and young entrepreneurs!

Our third annual Children’s Pop-Up Market was held on Saturday, November 13th at the Durham Central Park Pavillion. Forty vendors, ages 6-17, registered for and participated in the market. Products from our young vendors included: clay creations, homemade soap, paintings, digital art, reusable gift bags, elegant paper flower creations, hot chocolate, jewelry, fudge, crocheted gloves, and flower bouquets.

The perfect weather made for a perfect day and some of our award winning vendors walked away with cash prizes in hand to help them grow their innovative business ideas.

Whether an entrepreneur is famous or is one of the thousands of unsung small business owners across this city and our country, these are the people who make sacrifices to innovate, create jobs and serve their communities. Providing children the opportunity to experience running their own business at an early age is a unique opportunity we are proud to share with our community.

  • The Children’s Pop-Up Market is a marketplace for young entrepreneurs to sell goods and services that they have created. Each vendor will have their own booth where they can market and sell their goods. They will learn and experience the ins and outs of selling to the public and making a profit. Think of your childhood lemonade stand, but better.

  • We are seeking vendors ages 6-17.

  • The fee is $30 and tables and chairs will be provided.

  • Because innovators and entrepreneurs can change the world, and we want our youngest entrepreneurs to have the opportunity to share their talents and ideas.

  • • May 7th, 2023

  • The Pavilion at Durham Central Park 501 Foster St. Durham, NC 27701

  • • Cash prizes ranging from $50-$100 will be awarded in each age group for the following categories:
    • Best Sales Person
    • Best Presentation (Audio or Visual)
    • Best Potential
    • Judges’ Overall Favorite will also be awarded to the booth most compelling across all categories.

  • • First, think about what you can make with your own hands that others might enjoy.
    • Next, picture how you might sell it.
    • Finally, imagine the feeling (and responsibility) of having a little extra spending money as a result.
