Testimonials

“Project time is interesting and fun. It has teamwork and I really like long-term work were I can work on it every day. Instead of dong one problem and finishing it in ten seconds, when you feel a really big project you feel good that you did it.”

“Our 2nd-grader came to The Studio School this past year after our family moved to the area from California. For years, we have looked for an educational space just like this for our children, one where learners are valued, respected, and loved for their individual strengths and interests. Our daughter feels such a sense of determination and excitement each and every day that she goes to school. She loves working independently on her core skills and collaboratively with other learners of all ages on real-world projects. I am so happy to see her innate curiosity and enthusiasm for learning not only preserved, but honored and encouraged through the freedom to discover! Danielle, the founder, puts incredible effort into designing and implementing the latest and best STEM projects, and the teachers work so hard to guide learners through the critical-thinking process, helping them solve their own problems. Our daughter comes home every day with so much to share! I have heard her say more than once, “I’m so glad I have school tomorrow,” “Everything at school is just so interesting,” and “Why does school seem so short!” We highly recommend The Studio School of Durham!”

“My son went to a Pre-K program in a public school last year, and always came home saying it was boring. I have a very high energy kid, so sitting in a desk and being forced to do worksheets isn't really his style. This year he is at The Studio School for Kindergarten. When I pick him up after school he is bursting with energy, proclaiming "I LOVE SCHOOL!" He loves the different projects he gets to be a part of, has made some great friends, and comes home talking about and putting into practice things he has learned (right now it's a lot more reading and writing on his own than he used to do). I have also been so impressed by the teachers- they are so full of positive energy, my son can't leave before giving them each a big hug. I'm so grateful that we found this place and hoping that my other children can someday be a part of it!”

“The model of learning is such a breath of fresh air! This is a place where children are excited about learning new things and inspired to start their own Hero's Journey. We are so excited to be a part of this community”

“I am so thankful we found this school. My daughter has had a wonderful kindergarten experience. The school day is engaging, active, and fun. The project-based approach is great. She enjoys this school and the educational style so much that she is so excited to learn new things. I appreciate that there is no homework. Instead she comes home each day and invents her own homework, replicating projects from school and creating her own challenges. She is engaged and curious doing these projects, so learning is a joy. It has been really amazing to watch. We couldn't be happier”

“I love seeing my child having so many more experiences that just aren’t possible in a traditional school environment. Between the hands on project work, and the dedicated time in the Design Studio, and a real recess where kids get to burn off the energy needed to focus on learning, we couldn’t be happier with The Studio School. We also really love the way the mixed age learning environment allows our child to be a leader to younger children, but also be mentored by older students. It’s just amazing to see.”
